Kingsland has a small-town vibe with big-town amenities nearby. Less than two hours from San Antonio and Austin, four hours from Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston, Kingsland is a lifetime away from the stress of urban life. Whether you’re here for a weekend or to escape from the winter cold, we have so much to offer. Kingsland and the Highland Lakes have year-round attractions: antiquing, birding, boating, boondocking, fishing, golfing, hiking, museums, hunting, swimming and lots of live music!

How can you not enjoy boating on it, fishing from it, watching a breathtaking sunrise or sunset over it, or toasting your loved one as you dine on one of the many lakes? See more about Lake LBJ, the constant level lake in the area

Camping, Hiking & Swimming Holes
Texas Parks and Wildlife and the US Fish & Wildlife Service maintain parks and trails, which include the most popular Enchanted Rock, Inks State Park, Longhorn Caverns, Colorado Bend State Park, and the Balcones Canyonlands.
Many visitors head up Packsaddle Mountain or explore Devil’s Waterhole.
“The Slab” is a popular local swimming hole on the Llano River and Kingsland’s Community Park offers a breathtaking view of Lake LBJ while you fish or picnic.

LIVE MUSIC
The Lakes are filled with the sound of music—live music! From cool jazz to Los Lobos to Zane Williams and his Wilder Blue band, the Highland Lakes are filled with concerts (free and with tickets), solo artists in coffee houses and fiddlers on the squares. Kingsland Chamber members Boat Town and Wakepoint LBJ have a great live music line-up every week, so check websites, local papers and “101 Things to Do” listings to plan your night out.

Golfing
The Legends in Kingsland is a public golf course touted as one of the most beautiful par 72 championship courses around. Less than 60 miles from downtown Austin, the Golf Course is part of a lake-side community located on Lake LBJ.
“With three girls in tow, ranging from ages eight to twenty, Kingsland has become one of our favorite getaways when Houston chaos takes its toll. On our list of favorite things to do: swimming at Inks Lake State Park, finding the perfect gift at Miss Lollipops in Marble Falls, eating salads on Boat Town deck, and just sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, listening to the silence.”
